Champions Mogo Host Zemgale in First Final Rematch of the Season
Leaders Mogo/RSU face Zemgale/LBTU on 7 October in the Latvian hockey league. The two clubs have met in the final four years in a row.

The first rematch of last season's final in the Latvian hockey championship takes place on 7 October at 19:20, when reigning champions Mogo/RSU host Zemgale/LBTU. The game is broadcast on TV4 and on Sportacentrs.com.
Four straight finals
Mogo and Zemgale have met in the final for four years running. In 2023 the title went to the team coached by Arts Ābols, while in each of the next three seasons the side led by Ģirts Ankipāns won the series 4-1.
The standings
At the start of the new season Mogo sit at the top of the table with 13 points from seven games. Zemgale have played three games fewer and are the only team yet to lose a match.
Among the champions, the top scorers are newcomers Kristaps Skrastiņš (7+5) and Ričards Grīnbergs (7+4), along with Kaspars Ziemiņš (3+8). Ziemiņš is the only player to have won the title four seasons in a row, first with Zemgale and then with Mogo. Rauls Ozollaps has also switched sides: he was with Zemgale last year and has joined Mogo this season.
Zemgale have two former Mogo players, Gatis Gricinskis and Lauris Bajaruns. Their leading scorers are Deniss Fjodorovs (1+6), who spent the previous three seasons in Poland, and Aleksandrs Novikovs (4+2). Novikovs, like Bajaruns, arrived from Kyiv Capitals. Patriks Zabusovs has also scored four goals in four games; in May he travelled with the Latvian national team to the world championship in Zurich and Fribourg but did not get to play. In last year's final series he collected six points in five games.
