Valtra tractor hits 87 km/h in speed record at Austrian race track
Finnish agricultural machinery maker Valtra set a speed record with its T236 tractor at Austria's Red Bull Ring, reaching 87 km/h on a straight. Red Bull Racing independently confirmed the measurement.
Finnish agricultural machinery manufacturer Valtra has set a speed record with its new T236 tractor at the Red Bull Ring race track in Austria. The tractor covered the 4.3-kilometre circuit in 3 minutes and 36.4 seconds and reached a top speed of 87 km/h on a straight. The measurement was independently confirmed by Red Bull Racing.
Technical details
The Valtra T236 produces 249 horsepower. It is fitted with a 7.5-litre six-cylinder AGCO Power CORE75 diesel engine that delivers up to 1,184 Nm of torque. It is the most powerful model in the new sixth-generation T series, whose tractors range from 170 to 249 horsepower. The first deliveries to customers are planned by the end of 2026.
Not intended for everyday use
The speed achieved on the track is not meant for daily work or for driving on public roads. The tractor was specially prepared for running on a closed, paved circuit. The maximum speed of the manufacturer's fastest road versions, depending on the model and registration rules, is up to 56 km/h.
Work in the field
To show that the new tractor is not only suited to records, the manufacturer also demonstrated its practical abilities in the field. A T series model pulled a 12-row Väderstad Tempo precision seed drill at 40 km/h while maintaining more than 95% sowing accuracy.
