Ukraine strikes Ilsky oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar region

Ukraine's defence forces carried out a strike on the Ilsky oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar Krai during the night of 25-26 September, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The attack caused a fire to break out at the site.

The General Staff stated that the refinery has an annual processing capacity of roughly 6.6 million tonnes of crude oil. The facility handles the receipt, storage and processing of hydrocarbon feedstock, turning it into petroleum products.

According to the General Staff, some of the refinery's output is used to supply Russia's military, making the plant a relevant target within Russia's fuel supply chain for its armed forces.

This is not the first reported attack on the site: earlier reports indicated that drones had already targeted the Ilsky refinery, also resulting in a fire. The latest strike suggests continued Ukrainian efforts to disrupt Russian oil refining capacity tied to military logistics.
