Ukrainian forces strike Ilsky oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar region

Ukraine's General Staff has reported that its Defense Forces struck the Ilsky oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar region overnight on September 26. A fire broke out at the facility following the strike.

According to the General Staff, the refinery has an annual processing capacity of around 6.6 million tonnes of oil. The plant receives, stores, and processes hydrocarbon raw materials and produces various petroleum products.

The General Staff stated that some of the refinery's output is used to supply the needs of Russian military forces, which explains why the facility was targeted.

It is worth recalling that media had previously reported drone attacks on the same Ilsky refinery in Krasnodar region, which also caused a fire on the site at that time. The latest strike suggests the facility remains a recurring target for Ukrainian forces due to its role in supporting Russia's military supply chain.
