Polish PGZ may handle repair of Ukrainian F-16 and MiG-29
Polish defense holding PGZ is considering modernizing and repairing Ukrainian F-16 and MiG-29 fighters, while also expanding cooperation in ammunition components and drones.

Polish defense conglomerate PGZ (Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa) has announced it is exploring the possibility of servicing and upgrading Ukrainian F-16 and MiG-29 jets. In an interview with Ukrinform, PGZ board chairman Adam Leszkiewicz said that cooperation is already underway between several Polish companies and Ukrainian arms manufacturers.
Initially, collaboration focused on armored vehicles—specifically, Ukraine's purchase of Krab self-propelled howitzers produced at the Huta Stalowa Wola steelworks. Now, discussions include support, repair, and maintenance of Ukrainian F-16 and MiG-29 fighters delivered by partners. Additionally, PGZ is already producing components for ammunition and missiles for the Ukrainian military.
Leszkiewicz noted that the holding is opening new areas of cooperation, citing a signed memorandum of intent with Ukrainian company TAF Industries on drone technology transfer and production.
Earlier, Polish Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk confirmed ongoing negotiations on the planned transfer of MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine. However, deliveries have not yet occurred because Poland awaits a resolution on the transfer of Ukrainian drone technologies.
In January, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov stated that Ukraine and Poland are deepening defense cooperation, particularly in strengthening the Air Force, and will jointly work on modernizing the MiG-29s that Poland intends to transfer.
