Russia and Ukraine trade overnight strikes as civilian death toll rises

Russia and Ukraine exchanged fresh overnight strikes, continuing a deadly weekend of attacks that left rising civilian casualties on both sides. Ukraine hit back with a drone strike on Russia's Voronezh region and also struck an oil refinery in Orsk.

Russia and Ukraine exchanged another round of strikes overnight, as civilian casualties continue to mount on both sides of the ongoing war.

Moscow directed its attacks at Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia and the Dnipropetrovsk region. The source report did not provide further detail on the extent of damage or casualties in these locations.

Ukraine's response

In response, Ukraine launched a drone attack on Russia's Voronezh region. Falling debris from the strike set fire to a warehouse belonging to online retailer Wildberries in the area.

Ukraine's military also reported striking an oil refinery in the Russian city of Orsk.

The latest exchange follows a deadly weekend of attacks that left civilian casualties climbing on both sides of the conflict. The renewed strikes underscore that long-range attacks on infrastructure and industrial targets in both countries continue without any sign of slowing.
