Russian forces carried out another large-scale drone attack against Ukraine overnight into September 26, using 173 attack-type unmanned aerial vehicles, Ukraine's Air Force reported on social media.
According to the statement, the assault involved Shahed-type drones, more than 50 of which were equipped with jet engines, along with Gerbera-type drones and Parodiya-type decoy drones. The drones were launched from several locations inside Russia — including the Oryol, Kursk, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk areas, as well as Shatalovo — and from occupied territories in Donetsk and Crimea.
134 targets downed
According to preliminary Air Force data, as of 7:30 a.m., air defense forces shot down or suppressed 134 of the enemy drones involved in the attack, including Shahed, Gerbera and other types.
Ukrainian military officials reported that strikes from the aerial attack were recorded at 19 separate locations, while debris from downed drones fell at eight additional sites. No further details on damage or casualties had been released at the time of publication.
The attack underscores that Russia continues to carry out large-scale drone strikes against Ukrainian territory on a regular basis, employing various drone types, including modified versions with increased speed intended to make interception more difficult.
