July has become the deadliest month for Ukrainian civilians since Russia's full-scale invasion began in 2022, according to recent data. At the same time, the commander of Ukraine's unmanned systems forces has warned that the Kremlin is pushing to strike faster and harder in an effort to overwhelm Ukraine's already depleted air defense shield.
According to the commander, Russia is steadily increasing the number of ballistic missiles launched in a single strike, scaling salvos toward as many as 200 missiles at once. Attacks of this magnitude place severe strain on Ukraine's air defense resources, which have already been worn down by prolonged, repeated bombardment.
Production outpacing plans
The commander's warning aligns with intelligence assessments indicating that Moscow has recently been exceeding its own monthly targets for weapons production and delivery. This suggests Russia's military-industrial complex is generating a larger supply of missiles and other weapons than originally planned, enabling more frequent and larger-scale strikes on Ukraine.
The trend raises concern that Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure could face even more intense and destructive attacks in the coming months unless Ukraine's air defenses receive additional reinforcement from its allies.
