A man has been detained in Jēkabpils on suspicion of attacking his partner and committing violence against their two children together. Local residents say the family's problems were not new, claiming the man had repeatedly treated his relatives cruelly in the past.

Public scandal leads to arrest

The situation escalated last evening when the man caused a public scandal. Emergency services responded to the scene and detained him. He is currently held in custody while awaiting a court decision on the security measure to be applied against him, expected as early as tomorrow.

Neighbours voice concern

The incident has visibly unsettled local residents, who fear what might happen should the man be released. According to neighbours, violence within the family had occurred regularly. They drew a direct comparison to the tragic so-called Rusiņš case in Jēkabpils, which previously exposed shortcomings in preventing prolonged domestic violence and threats.

For now, the man remains in custody pending the court's ruling. Local residents hope that this time, the potential danger to the family will be prevented in time.
