Experts: Selection Criteria for State Company Leadership Posts Allow Only a Narrow Pool of Candidates
Boards and supervisory councils of Latvian state-owned companies often include people who rotate from one post to another. An analysis found most have worked in several companies, while some have held seats on more than four or five boards and councils.

The management boards and supervisory councils of Latvia's state-owned companies often end up with people known as career board and council members. They rotate from the leadership of one company or institution to another. This is the finding of an analysis published by LSM, which looked at how widespread such rotation is.
What was examined
The authors set out to establish whether the same people take up posts in different state companies.
What was found
Most of the people reviewed have indeed worked in several companies. Some have held posts on more than four or five boards and councils during their careers.
Expert assessment
Experts say the selection criteria for posts in state company leadership allow only a narrow pool of candidates. This may explain why the same individuals repeatedly appear in the management of different companies.
