Barcelona rule out Alvarez move; Liverpool to keep Wirtz
Barcelona have decided against pursuing Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, while Liverpool will not allow Florian Wirtz to leave for Bayern Munich in January. Several other clubs are also weighing transfer moves.
Barcelona have ruled out making a move for Argentina forward Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid during the January transfer window. The 24-year-old is currently waiting to see whether Paris St-Germain or Arsenal submit an offer, or whether he will remain at Atletico.
Liverpool, meanwhile, will not entertain selling Germany midfielder Florian Wirtz, 23, to Bayern Munich in January. The German club would only consider a move next summer, and only if France winger Michael Olise, 24, turns down a new contract offer.
Chelsea eye midfield reinforcements
Chelsea's main midfield targets are Bournemouth's Alex Scott, 23, and Crystal Palace and England's Adam Wharton, 22. The west London club has cooled its interest in Monaco and Senegal midfielder Lamine Camara, 22.
Aston Villa want to reward Argentina midfielder Emi Buendia, 29, with a new contract following his strong recent form. England left-back Luke Shaw, 31, could leave Manchester United when his current contract expires next summer. Udinese are preparing to sign Austria defender David Alaba, 34, who left Real Madrid over the summer.
