Report: Ronaldo will not return to Portugal squad under current coach
Portuguese journalist Rui Santos reports that Cristiano Ronaldo does not plan to return to the national team while Jorge Jesus remains head coach. Tension rose after Ronaldo was left out of the squad against Norway and then left the team's camp early.

CNN Portugal commentator Rui Santos, citing sources close to the situation, reports that Cristiano Ronaldo is unwilling to return to Portugal's national team as long as Jorge Jesus remains in charge as head coach.
The dispute became public attention during this Nations League cycle after Ronaldo was not included in the starting lineup for Portugal's match against Norway. Following that decision, the player left the national team camp early, saying he would explain his decision later.
Coach denies a conflict
Jesus, who worked with Ronaldo previously at Saudi club Al-Nassr, publicly denied any personal conflict between the two but reminded everyone of the chain of command within the national team. The coach later softened his stance somewhat, stating that Ronaldo would always be called up to the squad and that the decision to play would rest with the player himself.
Santos's account
According to the journalist, Ronaldo is deeply unhappy with Jesus's public comments and no longer trusts the coach. Santos cites sources claiming the player has told people close to him that he will not return to the national team while Jesus remains in charge. Ronaldo reportedly sees a contradiction in Jesus's position: on one hand saying he wants Ronaldo to play, while on the other insisting he owes no one an apology since the squad selection decisions are his alone.
Current standing
Portugal currently leads Group A4 in the Nations League with 12 points. The team still has an away match against Wales and a home game against Denmark remaining in this phase of the tournament.
