Badger and hedgehog dispute in Aizpute ends with police called in

Police in the western Latvian town of Aizpute were called to deal with an unusual situation this week: a dispute between two wild animals inside an apartment building's stairwell.

Residents of the building reported the incident to police after a badger and a hedgehog got into what appeared to be a loud confrontation in the stairwell. The noise reportedly grew intense enough that residents felt compelled to call for official help.

By the time officers arrived at the scene, the badger had already fled, leaving no trace of the animal that started the commotion.

The hedgehog, however, remained at the location. Police decided to relocate the animal to a safer environment, taking it to a nearby park rather than leaving it in the residential building.

The episode highlights how wild animals occasionally wander into residential areas, sometimes leading to unexpected encounters with local residents.
