Zelenskyy and UK Foreign Secretary Visit Site of Russian Missile Strike in Pryluky
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband visited Pryluky in Chernihiv Oblast, where a Russian missile hit an apartment block on 7 October. Zelenskyy urged partners to boost air defence support and pressure on Russia.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Ed Miliband, the United Kingdom's Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, travelled to Pryluky in Chernihiv Oblast. A Russian missile struck an apartment building in the city on 7 October.
Zelenskyy thanked the British minister, who has come to Kyiv on an official visit, and said he had invited Miliband to Pryluky so that he could see for himself what is really happening, what daily strikes look like and how people endure this struggle.
Call for more support
The president urged partners, including the United Kingdom, to step up assistance to Ukraine, particularly in air defence. He also stressed the need to strengthen the negotiation process.
Zelenskyy said air defence systems are in short supply because the country is large and strikes occur everywhere. In his view, the United States should raise pressure through sanctions and other measures, including financial assistance and specific air defence support for Ukraine. Such steps, he said, could force Putin to sit down at the negotiating table.
Casualties
According to the latest data, 22 people were killed in the Russian missile strike on Pryluky on 7 October, including five children.
Additional context
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna condemned another massive Russian attack on Ukraine and called on partners to increase pressure on Moscow. Zelenskyy, for his part, announced that Ukrainian negotiators are due to meet the American side on 9 and 10 October.
