William and Kate to stay out of Earl Spencer's Diana book row
Royal family representatives say William and Kate will not publicly engage with Earl Spencer's memoir or take part in a film marking the 30th anniversary of Diana's death. Harry, meanwhile, is reportedly seeking participants for a tribute film.

Prince William and the Princess of Wales will never publicly get involved in the dispute over Earl Spencer and his book about Princess Diana. They will also not take part in a documentary that might be made to mark the 30th anniversary of Diana's death. The Daily Mail reports this, citing representatives of the royal family.
Opinions kept private
The couple will keep their views to themselves, including on the memoir, extracts of which the Daily Mail published, and on the damage it is said to have done to King Charles. The newspaper writes that William was reportedly furious after Earl Spencer claimed on US television that he had spoken to his nephew following the book's release. The heir to the throne and his wife are focused on their royal and charitable duties.
William, Kate and their team will not take part in any activity linked to the book. A source close to the couple says this position will not change, even though the memoir has drawn a mixed public reaction and Earl Spencer continues to promote it around the world.
Different from 2017
In 2017, on the 20th anniversary of Diana's death, William and Harry together took part in the ITV documentary "Diana, Our Mother: Her Life And Legacy". That will not be repeated, as William has reportedly decided against doing anything similar in 2027.
Meanwhile, Harry has reportedly approached several of Diana's friends and relatives, including King Charles, to ask whether they would be willing to appear in a tribute film ahead of the significant anniversary next summer.
