Five fires extinguished in Vidzeme over 24 hours, including a wooden annex in Cēsis
The State Fire and Rescue Service's Vidzeme regional office received seven calls between 6 and 7 October, five of them for fires. The largest blaze was in Cēsis, where a 100 m2 wooden annex burned.

Firefighters and rescuers in the Vidzeme region responded to seven calls between 6:30 a.m. on 6 October and 6:30 a.m. on 7 October. Five were fire calls, one was a rescue operation, and one turned out to be a false alarm.
Fires in Valmiera municipality
In the morning of 6 October, a passenger car burned in Valmiera parish, with the fire covering 3 m2. Later in the day, household items caught fire in a garage in Trikāta parish, affecting 4 m2. In the afternoon, an electricity pole burned in Brengulis parish, with flames covering 0.5 m2.
Mobile phone fire in a public building
At 2:44 p.m., the service received a call to Vaive parish in Cēsis municipality. A mobile phone burned on the ground floor of a two-storey public building, covering 0.01 m2. The fire went out before rescuers arrived. A total of 57 people evacuated the building, and firefighters inspected the premises. Work at the scene ended at 3:15 p.m.
Collision in Kocēni parish
At 4:27 p.m., rescuers were called to Kocēni parish, where two passenger cars and a passenger minibus collided. People got out of the vehicles on their own. Rescuers disconnected the battery terminals of all the vehicles, and work at the scene finished at about 5 p.m.
Annex fire in Cēsis
At 1:13 a.m. on 7 October, a call came in for Jāņa Poruka Street in Cēsis, where a single-storey wooden annex covering 100 m2 was on fire. The blaze was put out at 3:13 a.m.
Nationwide figures
Across Latvia, the service received 42 calls over the past 24 hours: 15 for fires, 17 for rescue work, and ten were false alarms.
