Fastest runners of Aizkraukle region schools determined at autumn cross-country in Pļaviņas

The Aizkraukle Municipality Sports School held its school autumn cross-country race in five age groups at the Pļaviņas sports base. For the first time, the programme included a school team relay, won by Aizkraukle Municipality Secondary School.

The annual school autumn cross-country race, organised by the Aizkraukle Municipality Sports School, took place at the "Jankas — Jaujas" sports base in Pļaviņas municipality. Pupils from all schools in the municipality took part, competing in five age groups. Most groups had around 20 participants in the individual races.

Individual results

In the U10 girls' 400 metres, Izabella Vārpiņa of Jaunjelgava Primary School won, followed by Nellija Avlasova of Aizkraukle Municipality Secondary School and Sofija Dika, also from Jaunjelgava. Among the boys, Rihards Korklišs of Koknese Secondary School took first place, ahead of Rinalds Vinks of Pļaviņas Primary School and Edvards Stiprais of Aizkraukle Municipality Secondary School.

U12 girls ran 400 metres. Jasmīna Pavlova (Aizkraukle Municipality Secondary School) won, with Rebeka Stičinska and Sofija Arāja of Koknese Secondary School second and third. In the boys' 800 metres, Elvis Laukazīle was first and Kārlis Mikāls second, both from Koknese Secondary School, while Ernests Teo Upīts of Aizkraukle Municipality Secondary School was third.

In the U14 girls' 800 metres, Katrīne Ļebedeva of Koknese Secondary School won, followed by Katrīna Karlsone of Bebri Primary School and Elza Virbule of Aizkraukle Municipality Secondary School. The boys' top two were Mihails Šulenkovs and Rajens Tomass Upīts of Aizkraukle Municipality Secondary School, with Georgijs Jakovļevs of Pļaviņas Primary School third.

In the U16 girls' 1,000 metres, Dārta Jaudzema (Pļaviņas Primary School) won, Elīza Kleimane (Aizkraukle Municipality Secondary School) was second and Megija Paļčevska (Bebri Primary School) third. Among the boys, Andris Martinovs of Aizkraukle Municipality Secondary School was first, Ivo Fjodorovs of Koknese Secondary School second and Kārlis Krūmiņš of Pļaviņas Primary School third.

U18 young men ran 2,000 metres: Reinis Cīrulis (Koknese Secondary School) won, Kristers Pudāns (Aizkraukle Municipality Secondary School) was second and Denijs Timofejevs (Bebri Primary School) third. In the young women's 1,000 metres, Valērija Kovaļevska and Emīlija Mucenice, both of Aizkraukle Municipality Secondary School, took first and second, and Linda Pēce of Koknese Secondary School was third.

School team relay

Previously, the top three schools were determined by individual results at the end of the event. This year, a relay for school teams was held for the first time. Each team had four girls and four boys, with each age group running a leg of its own distance. Aizkraukle Municipality Secondary School won, ahead of the teams of Ilmārs Gaiss Koknese Secondary School and Andrejs Upīts Skrīveri Secondary School.
