Ukraine Sees No Risk of Hungary Blocking EU Accession Again
Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka stated there are no grounds to fear that Hungary will once again hinder Ukraine's path to the European Union by demanding concessions on the rights of the Hungarian minority.

The Ukrainian government does not see any risk that Hungary will again create obstacles to Ukraine's EU accession process by demanding concessions on the issue of Hungarian minority rights. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka ahead of the intergovernmental conference in Luxembourg to open the first negotiation cluster.
Kachka noted that a key agreement has been reached with Hungary: the entire policy on national minorities will be coherent. Hungary has joined the action plan confirming that Ukraine's legislation on national minorities — including the 2022 law on national minorities, education laws adopted since 2015, and language legislation developed since 2022 — is fully acceptable.
"We see no negative scenarios. We believe that the Hungarian minority in Ukraine fully enjoys its rights and lives within the Ukrainian public order while strengthening its identity. Therefore, we see no factual or legal problems and expect constructive dialogue with the Hungarian government in the future," Kachka said.
He also reported that Ukraine expects to open the remaining clusters within the next few weeks.
