A market in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv was struck during a series of Russian attacks, leaving six people injured. The market, known for selling books and posters, was visited by BBC Ukraine correspondent Dan Johnson as firefighters worked to put out remaining hot spots from the fire.

Across Ukraine more broadly, five people were reportedly killed in the wave of Russian strikes. At the same time, Russian officials reported that seven people were killed on their side of the border in strikes carried out by Ukraine.

The exchange underscores the continuing intensity of cross-border attacks in the war, with civilian and commercial sites again caught in the line of fire. The BBC is continuing to follow developments as they unfold.
