76th Exchange Since Full-Scale War
Ukrainian authorities announced the return of 160 defenders who had been held in captivity since 2022. This marks the 76th prisoner exchange since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion. The exchange was carried out as part of a coordinated effort involving international mediation, which remains a crucial channel for communication between the warring sides.
Ukrainian officials emphasized that they remember every individual still in captivity and will continue working to bring all prisoners of war home. The returnees will be provided with medical care and rehabilitation. Regular exchanges have taken place despite the ongoing conflict, representing one of the few areas of cooperation between Ukraine and Russia.
Since 2022, thousands of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians have been brought back through such exchanges. The international community has actively supported these efforts by mediating and ensuring humanitarian corridors. The Ukrainian government has committed to doing everything possible to free all those still held by Russian forces.
