Trump after talks with Zelenskyy and Putin: 'Maybe we can do something'
US President Donald Trump said he had 'very good' conversations with the leaders of Ukraine and Russia and sees a possibility to take action to end the war in Ukraine, noting that 25,000 people die each month.

US President Donald Trump, speaking during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Évian-les-Bains before the G7 summit on Sunday, revealed that he had held 'very good' phone calls the previous day with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Trump stated that after these talks, he sees a potential to 'do something' to end the war. 'I really think so. I think both are open to it,' Trump said. He emphasized his focus on ending the war in Ukraine, mentioning that 25,000 people, mostly soldiers, die every month in the conflict, which he said should not happen.
Earlier, Zelenskyy confirmed that his conversation with Trump covered efforts to end Russia's war against Ukraine. On the same day, Putin also spoke with Trump, and they agreed on a swift visit by Trump's special representatives to Moscow. On Monday, Zelenskyy revealed that he had proposed meeting Putin at the G7 summit in France this week for negotiations, but Russia was 'not ready to talk'.
