Tim Heidecker Expands His Satirical Empire, Taking Aim at Joe Rogan Next
Comedian Tim Heidecker, who already created an Alex Jones parody for The Onion, debuts a new show Thursday spoofing podcaster Joe Rogan, featuring a fake supplement ad and absurd culture-war chatter.
As satirical outlet The Onion pursued a legal effort this summer to acquire the bankrupt Infowars brand, it launched a streaming program mocking the operation and its ringleader, conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. Comedian Tim Heidecker took on that role, channeling Jones' gruff, paranoid delivery while chasing unconfirmed stories — including whether Jones himself had exploded in his car after overindulging in Whataburger.
Heidecker isn't stopping there. As he continues turning the Infowars brand into a comedy network in the spirit of Adult Swim, he's now setting his sights on Joe Rogan, the podcaster whose sprawling, often misinformed conversations have kept The Joe Rogan Experience at the top of the charts for years. Heidecker's new companion show, The Tim Heidecker Podcast, premieres Thursday at 8 pm ET. The debut episode features complaints about pronouns, wild speculation about AI, and an ad for a fictional supplement called "Crab Salts," said to make your head hurt and cause shouting.
Heidecker first spoofed Rogan's rambling interview style in 2021 with a viral 12-hour podcast that was actually one hour of footage looped twelve times, touching on psychedelics, cancel culture, and whether Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson might run for president. Comedy duo and Onion contributors Rajat Suresh and Jeremy Levick, who appeared in that original bit, return for the new episode to offer their mock "expert" takes on hot-button issues, including a discussion of DEI policy and concerns about bearded men dressing as princesses at Disneyland. At one point, Heidecker abruptly announces a planned weekend trip to Glasgow for "Scotch wrestling."
A representative for Rogan did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
