David Pierce, a writer at the technology site The Verge, has published Installer No. 148, his regular roundup of recommended tech, gadgets, apps and entertainment. This week he highlights two new documentaries about the tech industry and a number of new devices.

The documentaries

The first is "You Can See Everything," a three-hour film pairing Elizabeth Holmes with Nathan Fielder. Pierce says he is eager to watch it, citing the level of access and the self-referential nature of the project. Afterward, he suggests watching comedian Josh Johnson's hour-long set about Holmes.

The second is "Musk," a four-hour documentary. According to Pierce, reviews are very strong, and even people who have followed the news for the past decade may find it a different experience to see events laid out in one sitting.

The gadgets

The list includes Apple's $299 home hub, the HomeView, which the author is considering buying, and the new $60 Siri Remote with Find My support, which he recommends buying only once your current one goes missing. He also mentions the Fairphone Fairbuds 2 earbuds, the compact Xbox Nano Controller, the Fitbit Edge fitness tracker, the CMF Speaker S Bluetooth speaker, and Kaleido 4, a new version of the color E Ink panel that promises better colors and performance.

Guest: Kevin Roose

Journalist Kevin Roose, author of the new book "The AGI Chronicles," shows the home screen of his iPhone 15 Pro. He relies heavily on voice dictation, used AI to build an app called Stash to replace Pocket, and runs several AI agents. With Casey Newton, he is preparing to launch a new podcast, "Machine Gods," soon.

The issue also features reader recommendations and Pierce's notes on switching to the note-taking app Capacities.
