Tērvete marks writer Anna Brigadere's 165th birthday

Students and staff of the A. Brigadere primary school, named after the writer, gathered at the Brigadere memorial museum 'Sprīdīši' in Tērvete on October 1 to mark her 165th birthday. The event featured songs, poetry readings and insights into her life and work.

On October 1, the Anna Brigadere memorial museum 'Sprīdīši' in Tērvete hosted celebrations marking the writer's 165th birthday, attended by students and staff of the A. Brigadere primary school, which bears her name. The Dobele municipality announced the event.

The school's delegation presented songs and poetry readings at the museum and took the opportunity to learn more about the writer's life story and literary legacy. Museum representative Rasma Rapa spoke to attendees about Brigadere's personality and her ties to Tērvete.

Museum preserves traces of the writer's life

The 'Sprīdīši' museum has preserved historical materials from the period when Anna Brigadere lived and worked there. During the visit, students had the chance to learn in greater detail about the circumstances under which her literary works were created.

After the event, school representatives expressed a wish to continue the tradition and mark the writer's birthday at the 'Sprīdīši' museum each year going forward.

Anna Brigadere was born on October 1, 1861, and her childhood years were closely tied to Tērvete. This connection to her homeland later found reflection in her literary work as well.
