Škoda Epiq: Automaker's Smallest Electric Crossover Tested in Germany and Austria
The TV Autoziņas program has test-driven Škoda's new Epiq, the brand's smallest and most affordable electric crossover. Demo cars are already available for test drives at Latvian dealers.
Škoda has released its smallest and most affordable electric crossover to date, the Epiq, which the program TV Autoziņas test-drove in Germany and Austria. The car measures under 4.2 meters in length, about 7 centimeters shorter than the petrol-powered Kamiq, though the electric platform allows it to stand 3 centimeters taller.
Equipment and pricing
The model comes in two trim levels, Essence and Selection. A wide range of optional extras is available for an extra cost, including matrix headlights, electrically adjustable seats, a tow hook, and a panoramic sunroof. The trunk lid must be opened manually, as there is no electric mechanism for it.
The Epiq 55 version, equipped with the largest available 52 kWh battery and 211 horsepower, starts at a minimum of 33,300 euros. With a minimally recommended set of extras, the price climbs to around 36,000 euros — dangerously close to the cheaper Elroq model.
Driving impressions
Behind the wheel, the car felt much like a conventional petrol vehicle, with identical control layout. One new feature is the 3D-printed Simply Clever accessories. The car proved surprisingly quiet even at speeds above 120 km/h on the highway.
The Epiq is offered with three wheel diameter options ranging from 17 to 19 inches, though tire width stays the same across all versions. Since the rear uses conventional disc brakes rather than drum brakes, regenerative braking capability is limited, and its level can only be adjusted through the on-screen menu rather than steering wheel controls.
Overall, testers said the Epiq exceeded expectations, proving to be smooth, quiet, and efficient. Demo vehicles are already available for test drives at Škoda dealers in Latvia.
