Ford reopens applications for exclusive Mustang GTD in Europe

Ford has opened a new application window for its exclusive Mustang GTD performance car aimed at European buyers. Prospective buyers can submit applications until October 16, 2026, but only 500 people will get the chance to actually purchase the car — that is the total number of units allocated to the European market.

Not a standard dealer order

Unlike regular Mustang models, the GTD cannot simply be ordered through a dealership. Ford selects buyers through a special application process that also takes into account a candidate's connection to the Mustang brand and to motorsport in general. This means submitting an application does not guarantee the right to buy the car.

Prices vary by country

This exclusivity comes with a steep price tag that also varies significantly across European countries, mainly due to differences in taxes and other local costs. In Germany, the Mustang GTD starts at €359,900, in Belgium it reaches about €366,000, while in Austria buyers should expect to pay around €525,500.

Power and performance

Under the hood sits a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine producing 815 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque. Power is sent through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The car features a highly sophisticated suspension and aerodynamic setup that brings it closer to a race car than a typical street Mustang. Top speed reaches approximately 325 km/h.

Uncertainty over road use

For European buyers, there is still no full clarity on whether the GTD can be used on public roads, as the European type-approval process has not yet been completed. Ford notes that if homologation is not granted, the car may remain track-only in certain markets.
