The draw for the Cincinnati WTA tournament has been revealed, placing Latvian player Aļona Ostapenko, currently ranked 29th and seeded 26th, on a path that starts with a first-round bye.
In the second round, Ostapenko will meet the winner of a match between Poland's Magdalena Fręch (currently ranked 45th) and Croatia's Antonia Ružić (56th).
Potential meeting with Rybakina
Should Ostapenko advance past the second round, her likely third-round opponent would be Kazakhstan's Jeļena Rybakina, who is ranked second in the world.
The main draw of the Cincinnati tournament will take place from August 16 to 23.
Doubles competition
Ostapenko has also entered the doubles draw, partnering with Taiwan's Hsieh Su-wei.
