Sandis Voldiņš: Opera Should Return to Simple Beauty
Latvian National Opera and Ballet director Sandis Voldiņš says audiences long for simple, beautiful things, and outlines upcoming events including the Riga Opera Festival and a world premiere.

In an interview on the program "Kultūrdeva", Sandis Voldiņš, head of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet, shared his thoughts on opera and the theater's upcoming events.
Speaking about the recent premiere of Puccini's "La Bohème" directed by Laura Groza, Voldiņš noted that people yearn for simple, uncluttered, and beautiful things. He emphasized that the opera house aims to provide exactly that experience.
Voldiņš also presented the program for the upcoming Riga Opera Festival, reminding of world-renowned artists who will perform in Riga. Additionally, he invited audiences to the world premiere of a Latvian composer's original opera, scheduled for next spring.
