Man in Salaspils rescues person from burning flat, then treated by paramedics himself

A fire broke out on Friday in a nine-storey residential building in Salaspils, the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) reported. One person was affected as a result of the incident.

According to available information, during the fire one of the building's residents entered the burning flat to help a person inside get out of the dangerous situation. After completing the rescue, the man himself was handed over to paramedics from the State Emergency Medical Service (NMPD) for care.

Emergency services respond

VUGD firefighters arrived at the scene to extinguish the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the building. Fires in nine-storey residential buildings are considered particularly challenging, since fire and smoke can spread quickly in high-rise structures, making evacuation and rescue work more difficult.
