Ukrainian death metal band ORBSTRUCT to play anniversary show in Riga

This Saturday, 10 October, the Riga club Melnā Piektdiena will host a heavy music night headlined by the Ukrainian death metal band ORBSTRUCT. The group is marking its tenth anniversary with a special programme.

The band and the programme

ORBSTRUCT was founded in Kharkiv in 2016, but its members now live and work in Poland. Its sound also carries elements of blackened death metal, meaning an influence from black metal. In Riga it will perform "A Decade of Transcendence", which was released on 30 July as a concert album and film. Its themes include critical thinking, resistance to imposed truths, self-knowledge and personal transformation.

The band first played in Latvia in 2025 at the heavy music and living history festival "Zobens un Lemess" in Bauska, where its show was well received by the audience. The musicians say the evening will be more than an ordinary concert.

Latvian participants

ORBSTRUCT will be joined by FRAILTY, a doom/death band founded in Riga in 2003. Its music is melancholic, heavy and atmospheric, dealing with sadness, loss, loneliness and the human relationship with death. The group has four full-length albums, an EP and several early recordings. It has won Latvian Metal Music Awards several times and has been nominated twice for the Golden Microphone.

The evening will be opened by GRUNTS and EREMOS-IX. EREMOS-IX plays blackened doom; the project was founded in 2018 and has operated as a band since 2024. GRUNTS performs its own style of death metal as a duo.
