Riga unveils memorial plaque to Berta Pīpiņa, the first woman elected to the Saeima

The date was chosen deliberately, as it marks Berta Pīpiņa's birthday. She holds a distinctive place in Latvian history as the first woman ever elected to the Saeima, the country's parliament, and is regarded as one of the most notable political figures of the interwar period.
A shared tribute
The plaque is located on Ģertrūdes Street and honors not only Pīpiņa herself but also Ērmanis Pīpiņš-Vizulis, whose memory is commemorated together with hers at the same site.
