Porziņģis to miss start of Warriors training camp due to health issue

Latvian basketball player Kristaps Porziņģis will not take part in the start of the Golden State Warriors' training camp due to a health issue, according to ESPN basketball reporter Anthony Slater.

Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy said that as recently as last week Porziņģis was on the court and fully ready to train, but on Sunday the team learned that the Latvian had developed a health problem. As a result, he will not travel with the rest of the squad to the team's training camp in Hawaii.

Return timeline unclear

Dunleavy said it is not yet possible to say how long Porziņģis will be sidelined, but he pushed back on the idea that the player will definitely miss the start of the season. According to the general manager, Porziņģis simply is not available for training this week.

In late June, Porziņģis agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Warriors, confirming his continued commitment to the club.
