FIFA President Infantino Attends Opening of New Latvian Football Federation Office in Riga
The Latvian Football Federation opened its new office in Riga on Monday, with FIFA President Gianni Infantino in attendance. During the visit, plans were discussed for Latvia and Ukraine to potentially bid jointly to host the FIFA U-20 World Cup in the future.
On Monday, the Latvian Football Federation (LFF) held an official opening ceremony for its new office on E. Melngaiļa Street in Riga. FIFA President Gianni Infantino attended the event.
Representatives of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and officials from the Latvian government were also present at the ceremony.
Visit and discussions
Infantino was welcomed to Latvia by LFF President Vadims Lašenko and Economy Minister Viktors Valainis. Their meeting covered several topics, including Latvia's long-term ambition to bid together with Ukraine to host the FIFA U-20 World Cup in the future.
The discussions also touched on the development of football infrastructure in Latvia and the potential economic benefits that hosting major international sporting events could bring to the country.
The opening of the new office, marked by a visit from FIFA's top official, underscores continued cooperation between Latvia's football organization and international football governing bodies.
