Latvian rescuers have pulled 33 drowning victims from water this swimming season

Latvia's State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) has recovered 33 drowning victims from bodies of water so far this swimming season, the agency told LETA.
The most recent case was recorded yesterday, when a body was recovered in the Salas parish of Mārupe municipality. Police are investigating the circumstances of the death.
Totals for the year
Counting from the start of the year, VUGD has recovered 53 drowning victims from water in total. Of these, 33 occurred during the current swimming season, which began in Latvia on May 15.
