Pope Leo XIV calls for European unity and peace in Metz

Pope Leo XIV visited the northeastern French city of Metz on Monday, the final stop of his four-day trip to France, where he is set to call for European peace and unity. He will also lead a Mass attended by French President Emmanuel Macron.

Pope Leo XIV arrived in Metz, in northeastern France, on Monday, September 28, marking the fourth and final day of his visit to the country.

The day's program included an interfaith meeting held at the Robert Schuman convention centre in Metz.

Call for unity

The pope is expected to deliver an appeal for peace and unity across Europe during his time in the city. Later in the day, he will lead a Mass that French President Emmanuel Macron is set to attend.
