October Sales Outside Amazon: Anti-Prime Day Deals
As Amazon runs its October Prime Day, several other retailers are discounting products that WIRED editors have tested. The offers are available to shoppers who prefer not to buy from Amazon.
While Amazon holds its October Prime Day sale, other retailers, large and small, are also running discounts this week. WIRED has compiled a list of products its staff have tested themselves, all of which can be bought somewhere other than Amazon.
Electronics
Apple AirPods 3 cost $179 at Best Buy. WIRED notes, though, that the best wireless earbuds for iPhone users are the AirPods Pro 3, which offer noise cancellation, heart rate sensing and live translation. The AirPods Max 2 are priced at $429 at Walmart, just $30 above their lowest price ever. The publication says they remain pricey and have less battery life than it would like, but they are stylish and sound good.
The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, with an 11-inch color display and a stylus, is $520 at Best Buy. It works more like a tablet than a conventional e-reader. The Sonos Beam Gen 2 soundbar costs $359, a price WIRED says it has never seen before. Sonos and Walmart both offer the same price.
Pets and everyday items
The Furbo 360 dog camera is $54, and here the manufacturer's price is lower than Amazon's. It offers full-color night vision, two-way communication, a 360-degree pan, automatic pet tracking and treat dispensing. The Native Union MagSafe wallet, which holds up to three cards, is $39 in the Shop app, while the Stanley The Quencher H2.0 tumbler is half price there at $45.
Discounts also cover the Quince down comforter ($164) and clothing and bags from Vuori, Turtle Fur, Cotopaxi and Portland Gear.
Books from local stores
WIRED suggests buying books through Bookshop.com, which lets customers order from independent local bookstores. As part of anti-Prime Day, it is offering free shipping today and tomorrow.
