Moldova reveals new details on drone explosion incident
Moldovan police have released new details about this morning's drone explosion on the country's territory, saying the drone detonated after hitting a communications line support pole. Communication services were not affected.
Moldova's General Police Inspectorate has released new details about a drone explosion that occurred on the country's territory this morning. The information was shared by law enforcement on social media.
According to the inspectorate, the drone exploded at an altitude of about 40 meters after colliding with a communications line support pole. On a 12-meter section of the antenna structure, investigators found traces typical of an explosion, including metal deformation and signs of thermal damage.
Within a radius of roughly 265 meters, several fragments of the unmanned aerial vehicle were discovered, including structural elements, parts of the control system, and components of the power supply and propulsion systems.
Law enforcement officials stressed that the incident did not affect the operation of communication services. Experts from the police's technical and explosives units are currently examining the explosion site.
Previous incidents
This is not the first such incident in Moldova recently. On the evening of September 26, Moldovan border guards discovered drone fragments outside the village of Volintiri in the Ștefan Vodă district. Earlier, on September 18, police found drone fragments near Chișinău.
