Dailes Theatre actress Indra Briķe has died
Indra Briķe, an actress at Latvia's Dailes Theatre, died on Friday at the age of 68, according to the theatre magazine Kroders.lv. She won several Spēlmaņu nakts awards and the Great Christopher film prize.

Education and career
Briķe was born on 29 December 1957 in Durbe. She attended Durbe Secondary School and then Liepāja Secondary School No. 1. In 1977 she completed the second actors' studio at the Liepāja Theatre, where her course leaders were speech teacher and director Antonija Apele and director Oļģerts Kroders.
From 1977 to 1992 the actress worked at the Liepāja Theatre and the New Riga Theatre. In Liepāja she played leading roles in several productions and worked with Kroders. After the director left the Liepāja Theatre, Briķe also looked for other work, and in the early 1990s she took part in several New Riga Theatre productions. At the Dailes Theatre she developed a significant working relationship with director Mihails Gruzdovs.
Awards
Briķe received several Spēlmaņu nakts awards, Latvia's professional theatre prizes. She was honoured for the role of Irene in "When We Dead Awaken" at the Dailes Theatre and for Mrs Montreuil in the New Riga Theatre production "Like a Slow and Calm River Is the Return" in 1994. In the 2010/2011 season she was named best supporting actress for Repnikova in "Farewell in June", and in 2016/2017 for Peggy in "Admirer No. 1". She also received the Lilita Bērziņa Prize, the Cross of Recognition and the first Kroders Prize.
Film and book
Alongside her stage work, Briķe appeared in various films. She won the Great Christopher award as best actress for the role of Dārta in the 1989 film "Dzīvīte". In 2017, Līga Blaua's book "Indra Briķe. Kroder's Actress" was published.
