Manchester-based cybersecurity company Cytix has closed a €6 million (around $7 million) Series A funding round, which will be used to accelerate the rollout of its newly launched change risk management platform.

The round was led by Northern Gritstone, a venture capital firm focused on science and technology companies in the North of England, with continued participation from existing investors Auriga Cyber Ventures and NPIF II – PXN Equity Finance, managed by PXN Ventures as part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II.

Addressing risk from constant software change

Founded in 2020, Cytix argues that software change has become a distinct risk category for organisations, as AI-assisted development, agentic workflows and continuous delivery now move faster than the security models designed to govern them.

CEO Ben Armstrong said existing security tools can identify vulnerabilities but fail to explain the actual risk associated with a given change. Cytix's new platform aims to close that gap by helping teams determine whether a change matters from a security standpoint, what risk it introduces, and what action is required.

The funding will support Cytix's push into enterprise and regulated industries, where governing software change is often a compliance requirement. The platform can be accessed directly through Cytix or via managed service partnerships with NCC Group and KPMG.

Northern Gritstone CEO Duncan Johnson said the rapid rise of AI-assisted development has triggered a race to keep software implementation secure, and expressed pride in backing another ambitious Manchester company at a key stage of its growth.
