Lomazs scores six points as Olimpija suffers second Eurocup loss

Latvian basketball player Rihards Lomazs scored six points, but Ljubljana's Olimpija lost 64-75 at home to Hapoel Jerusalem in the ULEB Eurocup. The Slovenian club has opened the competition with two defeats.

Latvian basketball player Rihards Lomazs put up six points in a second-round ULEB Eurocup game on Tuesday, but it did not help his Slovenian club, Ljubljana's Olimpija, avoid another defeat. In a Group A game, the hosts lost 64-75 to Israel's Hapoel Jerusalem. The quarters ended 18-18, 9-19, 20-18 and 17-20.

Lomazs's performance

The Latvian spent 24 minutes and seven seconds on court. In that time he made one of two two-point attempts, one of four three-point attempts and one of two free throws. He also grabbed one rebound, gave two assists, made two steals, committed one turnover, received four fouls and drew five. His efficiency rating was six.

Other standouts

For the hosts, Noah Kirkwood was the top scorer with 17 points. Anthony Cowan added 14 points and five assists.

The visitors' win was helped by Dusan Miletic, who scored 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds. David Rodie finished the game with 12 points.

Competition standings

Olimpija has begun the Eurocup with two losses, while Hapoel has two wins. In the regular season, 32 teams are split into four groups. Each group plays a two-round tournament, and the top four teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stage.

Last season, the French team Bourg-en-Bresse won the Eurocup.
