Liepāja Municipality Publishes Event Plan for June 15-23
Liepāja municipality has announced its event plan for June 15-23, featuring international meetings, cultural events, sports activities, and infrastructure works.

The Liepāja City Council has released its schedule of events and activities for the period from June 15 to 23, including several international meetings, cultural programs, sports competitions, and ongoing road construction projects.
On June 15, Mayor Gunārs Ansiņš will meet with the Lithuanian ambassador to Latvia and later with defense attachés from NATO and EU countries accredited in Latvia. From June 17 to 20, Ansiņš will travel to Assisi, Italy, to attend the European Committee of the Regions’ ENVE commission meeting and a conference on traditions as a driver for a green future. A council meeting is scheduled for June 18.
Several events are part of the Liepāja 2027 program. From June 15 to 21, a contemporary art exhibition titled “Mierā!” will be displayed in shop windows on Graudu iela. An online lecture on crafts and design takes place on June 16. On June 17, a cultural breakfast is planned in Kuldīga and a personal sustainability workshop in Liepāja. On June 20, a cleanup event in Polīšu gravas and a creative yard on Ventspils iela will occur. On June 21, the festival “Pļava”, a Jāņi celebration, and a fire ritual in Kazdanga are scheduled, along with a “Neon Party” for youth.
On June 16 and 17, the Blood Donor Center in cooperation with the municipality will hold donor days at the Olympic Center to boost blood supplies before the Midsummer holidays. On June 20, the trail running series “Stirnubuks” returns to Liepāja after nine years with a 59 km course. On June 23, a festive event “LĪGO LIEPĀJĀ” with a concert will take place in Jūrmalas Park.
In sports, the international Tennis Europe U14 tournament runs from June 15 to 19. A Street Burgers event is set for June 17, and the “Dobrecova kauss” youth football tournament for U-13 and U-14 age groups will be held from June 19 to 21.
Infrastructure work continues on several streets. The reconstruction of O. Kalpaka iela, started in June 2025, is expected to last until summer 2028. Raiņa iela reconstruction should be completed this summer. On Pīļu iela, asphalt laying is finished, and documents are being prepared for commissioning. New sections of Debess iela are under construction, while gravel road upgrades are ongoing on Pulkveža Brieža iela and Tvaiku iela. Municipal maintenance includes tree and flower care, bike path and sidewalk upkeep, and lifeguard services at official beaches.
