Former Jelgava Prison to Open Its Doors to Visitors for Ten Days
From 30 October to 8 November, the former prison at Palīdzības iela 3 in Jelgava will host a daytime educational programme and an evening horror trail. Tickets are sold through Biļešu paradīze.

The former Jelgava prison, at Palīdzības iela 3 in the Latvian city of Jelgava, will be open to visitors for ten days, from 30 October to 8 November. The building will offer two different experiences: an educational tour during the day and a horror trail in the evening.
Daytime programme
The daytime programme is called "A Glimpse into Jelgava Prison" ("Ieskats Jelgavas cietumā"). Participants will be able to see the former prison's cells, corridors, punishment isolation cell and other rooms, and learn about the environment where inmates were once held. School classes, work teams and other groups can sign up for this programme.
Evening horror trail
In the evenings, the premises will host a "Horror Trail" ("Šausmu trase"). The real prison setting will be combined with frightening characters, actors' performances, unexpected surprises and various special effects, including lighting and sound.
The organisers stress that, unlike typical Halloween attractions, this trail is located in an authentic former prison building, where the corridors, cells and heavy doors already create a distinctive atmosphere. Visitors will go through individually or in small groups, passing several themed sections and meeting various horror characters.
Tickets and registration
Tickets for individual visitors and for the evening trail are available on Biļešu paradīze, the ticketing service, under "Ieskats Jelgavas cietumā". Further information and group bookings are available by phone at 29322555.
Location: Palīdzības iela 3, Jelgava.
