Liepāja City Council committees to review education, property and culture issues on August 13

On August 13, the standing committees of Liepāja City Council are holding their regular meetings, addressing a range of municipal issues. The sessions are available to watch online.

Development Committee

Starting at 10:30, the Development Committee will discuss scholarship criteria for priority specialities, an appeal submission, approval of a transaction with co-financing recipients under the "Liepāja – European Capital of Culture 2027" programme, the sale of an undeveloped plot of land at Lēņu iela 9, and a state-owned property at Kuldīgas iela 38-8.

Social, Health and Security Affairs Committee

At 12:00, the committee will review the regulations of the Family and Demographic Affairs Commission and an informational report on the commission's work in the first half of 2026.

Education, Culture and Sports Committee

At 13:00, the agenda includes co-financing for the European Capital of Culture programme, approval of the action plan for the Education Development Concept 2020–2025, amendments to regulations on meal fee discounts for students, rental rates for premises in municipal education institutions, co-financing for Karosta Music School, amendments to the Education Commission's regulations, amendments to a cooperation agreement on adult education, and informational reports on centralized exam results and on the Youth House.

Finance Committee

At 14:30, the Finance Committee will review several issues already discussed by other committees, including premises rental rates, meal fee discounts and culture capital co-financing, as well as new items — acceptance of movable property for management, a loan for the priority investment project on reconstructing gravel streets in 2026–2030, transferring a property at Oskara Kalpaka iela 87 for use, and the sale of several apartment properties on Mežu iela and Siļķu iela.
