Levoit launches air purifier aimed at pet odors and fur

Levoit has introduced the Vital Pet Pro Air Purifier, a $189.99 device built specifically for households with pets, taking a more targeted approach than standard air purifiers to problems like scattered fur and lingering odors.

Three-stage filtration

The purifier uses a three-stage filtration system: a washable pre-filter that catches larger debris such as pet hair, a main filter that targets smaller particles and dander, and an activated carbon filter packed with 140 grams of carbon designed to neutralize odors. A U-shaped air inlet is also part of the design, intended to capture airborne pet hair and particles, improve airflow, and reduce the risk of the filter clogging.

After testing the unit for a bit over a week, it proved effective at collecting fur and trapping debris that would otherwise settle on furniture. Levoit claims the Vital Pet Pro can eliminate up to 70% of odors within an hour, and the difference in air freshness was noticeable after the device had been running.

Automatic cleaning and app modes

The purifier includes automatic cleaning technology that removes accumulated hair from the pre-filter into a removable tray, sparing users from manually pulling the unit apart. Its companion app offers several modes: Auto Plus Mode adjusts performance based on real-time air quality changes, while Pet Mode alternates between running the fan at high speed for 15 minutes and a lower speed for 60 minutes to balance air quality, noise, and energy use.

Instead of a numeric readout, the device signals air quality through color: red for bad, orange for moderate, green for good, and cyan for very good. The unit is somewhat larger than expected, so buyers should check available floor space beforehand. It is audible at its highest fan setting but quiet enough at lower settings to run overnight, with a Sleep Mode available for even quieter operation.
