Latvia recalls Lithuanian smoked salmon over Listeria contamination
Latvia's Food and Veterinary Service is pulling a Lithuanian cold-smoked Atlantic salmon product from sale after laboratory tests found Listeria. Consumers are urged not to eat it.

Latvia's Food and Veterinary Service (PVD) has issued a warning about a smoked salmon product of Lithuanian origin in which laboratory tests detected Listeria. The product is being withdrawn from sale.
Affected product
The bacteria were found in frozen, cold-smoked Atlantic salmon fillet sold in 100-gram packs. The product originates in Lithuania.
What consumers should do
The service asks people to check the fish packaging they have at home. If a pack carries the batch number and expiry date given below, it must not be eaten.
The recall covers the following batch:
- package size: 100 g;
- batch number: L0825-0828;
- use by: 27.08.2027.
Other countries informed
The PVD has also posted a notice about the contamination in the European Union's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF). The system allows authorities in other countries to be informed about potentially dangerous food products.
