On Christmas 2019, Latvian chef and single father Didzis Pīrāgs experienced an unexpected turn of fortune — he won one million pounds in England's national lottery.

Following the win, Pīrāgs fulfilled a long-held dream by buying the house he had always wanted. He also changed jobs in order to spend more time with his son, Oliver.

A new chapter in another country

Today, Didzis and his son no longer live in England — the two have relocated to a different country. Pīrāgs has returned to his former profession and is once again working as a chef.

Details on how the lottery win has shaped his life in the long run were not fully disclosed, but it is known that the family continues to live and work, with Pīrāgs once again building his career in the kitchen.
