This summer, the pilot project of the interdisciplinary cultural initiative “Home Art Days” will take place in Latgale for the first time, running from July 2 to August 6. The event is organized by the cultural institute “New East”.

The initiative aims to encourage a perception of art not only as a finished product but also as a living, personal, and ongoing process. Participants – including artists, performers, actors, writers, poets, musicians, collectors, and other creative professionals – will be able to share their creative world, showcasing ideas, processes, sketches, rehearsals, conversations, and works that often remain beyond the boundaries of traditional exhibition or stage formats.

Organizers emphasize that the focus is not only on completed works but also on explorations, experiments, incompleteness, and the creative process itself. “Home Art Days” is inspired by community-based formats where people open their homes to share personal experiences. According to the creators, art is born not only in galleries and on stages but also in everyday environments – kitchens, garages, basements, courtyards, and studios.

Participation in the project is voluntary, and there is no need to prepare a special exhibition or professional performance. The format can vary – readings, conversations, open rehearsals, installations, presentations of unfinished works, sound experiences, performances, dinner parties, collection demonstrations, or other creative initiatives.

Currently, the first list of participants is being compiled, and creative professionals from the Latgale region are especially encouraged to apply, as togetherness, dialogue, and cultural presence are particularly important for strengthening the community. Those interested can sign up by June 19 by filling out a form.
