In Moscow, an explosion rocked the apartment of Andriy Pinchuk, the former minister of state security of the self-proclaimed 'Donetsk People's Republic' (DNR), on Wednesday, June 12. According to Russian media, the blast followed the delivery of a package by a courier. Pinchuk managed to take cover behind armored doors and escaped unharmed. The explosion shattered windows and doors in the building.

Pinchuk's background includes service in the early 2000s in the security ministry of the unrecognized Transnistria, followed by combat in Donbas on the side of pro-Russian separatists. In March 2014, he participated in the annexation of Crimea, transferring Ukrainian special forces units to Russian jurisdiction and preparing for the so-called referendum. From 2014 to 2015, he served as 'DNR' security minister. In 2022, he led the 'Center' unit during battles for Izium, and from 2023 to 2025, he commanded the 'BARS-13' unit fighting near Bakhmut.

This incident is the third attack this week targeting individuals involved in Russia's war in Ukraine. On June 9, a senior officer from the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate (GRAU) supply department, Damir Davydov, was killed in the Moscow region. Also on June 9, a car was targeted in an attempted explosion near a 'Rostec' facility in Moscow. The Russian Investigative Committee stated it had foiled an attempt to kill an employee of a research and production enterprise and detained two minors.
