Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russian occupying forces struck Kyiv with a ballistic weapon on Thursday, September 24, precisely while he was discussing a bill drafted by Senator Lindsey Graham and the need to strengthen sanctions against Russia with members of the US Congress.
Writing on social media, Zelensky said Russia will not end this war without pressure. He specified that the discussion of the "Graham bill" took place with congressmen Brian Fitzpatrick, Michael Quigley, Marcy Kaptur, Jared Golden, Joe Wilson and Gregory Meeks.
Overnight attack
It became known overnight Thursday that the ballistic strike on Kyiv had killed two people and injured six others.
Call for stronger pressure
Zelensky stressed that such attacks continue because pressure on the aggressor has not yet become total, and Russia believes it can keep relying on ballistic terror. He said the United States now has an opportunity to respond decisively — interceptors are needed to protect lives, and sanctions must be implemented against Russia and those helping it earn revenue. The president thanked both US parties for their willingness to help protect lives.
