Russia struck Kyiv with ballistic missile during talks on 'Graham law' with US Congress members, Zelensky says
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russian forces launched a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv precisely while he was discussing the so-called Graham bill and the need for tougher sanctions against Russia with US congressmen.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on social media that Russian occupying forces struck Kyiv with a ballistic missile on Wednesday at the exact moment he was meeting with US congressmen to discuss legislation proposed by Senator Lindsey Graham aimed at strengthening sanctions against Russia.
Zelensky stated that Russia will not end this war without pressure, emphasizing that the strike occurred precisely during the sanctions discussion.
Meeting with congressmen
According to Zelensky, the discussion of the Graham bill involved several members of the US Congress — Brian Fitzpatrick, Mike Quigley, Marcy Kaptur, Jared Golden, Joe Wilson and Gregory Meeks.
The Ukrainian president argued that such attacks will continue as long as pressure on Russia has not become total, since Moscow believes it can keep relying on ballistic terror. He called on the United States to respond decisively by providing ballistic missile interceptors to protect lives, and to implement sanctions against Russia and those who help it generate revenue. Zelensky thanked both American political parties for their willingness to help protect lives.
Casualties in Kyiv
The strike is connected to an incident reported overnight into Thursday, September 24, when a ballistic attack on Kyiv left two people dead and six others injured.
